he shoukd be on a morning nap, afternoon nap, and probably evening nap (some kids need the evening nap, and some don't and just got to bed for the night a little later). But first and foremost, I would reccommend (as always) that you read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Dr. Marc Weisbluth. It's our baby/toddler Bible re: sleep issues.
so should i try to make him nap just three times a day? sometimes he takes long naps but mostly just short ones here and there throughout the day. and now he is fighting sleep more during the day. he is still not sleeping through the night..but the past few days jess gets up with him when he wakes up and then holds him for a few minutes until he goes back to sleep..so he hasn't been sleeping through the night..but he has been waiting about seven hours to eat.
I would have to quote like 3 chapters of that book to you to answer your question...I would highly suggest you get it. It's at Target for $13. Normally I'd say wait until he's older to enforce schedules, but it sounds like he may need a little help to get on one of his own right now...
okay, i will buy the book when i get a little extra money. we are really tight right now. thanks!
girl he is to young to try and make go on a schedual yet. I have read them all and let me tell you two children later, he's to young.
well, roni....is there any way i can get him to sleep a little longer at night?
kayla, i bought the book...i will read it and let you know what i think.
you could give him a little formula before bed. Fills there tummy right up.
This guy is a wonder-worker. Agreed, he is too young to start enforcing a schedule, but this guy can give you some tips to help him start figuring one out for himself...especially if he keeps getting up at night but not to eat...read up, girl! It's worth the read!
