The making of...

Has anyone tried to make baby cereal before? I got a recipe that tells me to grind up the rice in the food processor until its a powder...well, either it just takes a really long time or I am doing something wrong. Can anyone help?

I haven't done it yet. I've also heard to use a blender. I have been trying to find time for the last several weeks to try making my own with organic brown rice, but...well....I just don't have time!!! Do you have your processor on the right setting???

Yeah, that's the only kind of baby cereal my kids have ever had. I used the blender and put uncooked brown rice in it. Then blend. You may have to stop occasionally to mix it around a bit b/c the fine powder tends to settle to the bottom. Just keep blending until you have a flour. Then it takes less than 5 minutes to cook. It's really not that hard. I hope it works for you.

Dena, how long did you have to blend it? that seems to be my problem. my food processor is not doing it very well. (there are just speeds to it kayla). I will try it in the blender instead. maybe that will work better.

hey dena. i tried the blender and it worked. i think my food processor was just too big. how do you store your rice after you make the flour? i was thinking of putting it in a ziploc baggie and storing it in the fridge.

store it in an air-tight container. It can be stored in your freezer for up to a year I think?
